Nairobi being the capital city of Kenya, majority of the active population are the youths who have schooled from various institutions. According to a survey done by IPSOS SYNOVATE Kenyan institutions produce a total of, 800,000 graduates yearly of which government jobs are minimal to get . Majority of the graduates from different parts of the country have schooled in the capital city and are seeking for any job that can make them earn of which is different from their profession. Through an interview with Daniel Gitau a mass communication student from University of Nairobi narrates his ordeal on how he applied for a job in different organizations but had no luck in any of them, and that left him desperate. This led him to lose hope in looking for a job and the parents were no longer taking care of him since he was a man enough to take care of himself. Daniel took time and sought help from his homies to help him secure a job but it didn’t bore any fruit, hence this led him to think of a shortcut that he can use in order for him to survive in the city . Within no time Daniel started pick pocketing people and this really endangered his life in the city as it was the only way of survival for him. After a while his closest friends started suspecting him through the stories that they were hearing from him and avoided him completely hence this created a gap in his lifetime. It reached a point where he started doing the business at daytime and this led him be beaten by the rowdy public when caught. When his parents heard on what he was going through from relatives, they came for him but didn’t succeeded as he avoided them completely since he knew they have been informed his whereabouts. His life finally came to a coma through the beatings from the public when he robbed in broad daylight in town leading to the regrets from his parents on why they stopped taking care of him after graduating from campus.
